The Washington Dulles International Airport Station has opened after a 10 year construction period. The Silverline Phase II project now serves the Airport, facing the Original Main Terminal building across the parking infield designed by Eero Saarinen, and extended in 1995 according to Saarinen’s Masterplan. The Metro project is a collaborative effort between WMATA and MWAA, and involved intensive study on the part of the AECOM design team to successfully integrate the prominent new above grade Metro station into this historic context for transportation architecture. Mr Tilghman has several transportation projects in his portfolio, including, at the outset of his career, the design of the ATCT Control Tower at Kennedy Airport in New York.
